This dataset contains 1990 census and agricultural economics variables for every county-level unit in China. It also contains a set of regional systems variables constructed by Professor G. William Skinner of the University of California-Davis. Skinner designed this dataset (which he dubbed 'ChinaA') so as to permit the user to select four variant datafiles tailored to different analytical needs. As of this (September 1995) writing, CITAS is providing a corresponding digital basemap for only one of the variants, the Merged Qu (MQ) scheme, which aggregates the urban districts of major cities.
